About the Author
John Satzinger is a Professor in the Computer Information Systems department at Missouri State University. With teaching and research experience at leading CIS and MIS university programs since 1991, Dr. Satzinger provides a strong managerial focus and powerful vision for this text. His interests and specialties include systems analysis and design, graphical user interface design, object-oriented development, and database and client-server development. He earned his MBA from Cal Poly University and his Ph.D. from the Claremont Graduate University.
Robert Jackson is a retired member of the faculty of the Information Systems Department at Brigham Young University. He has researched, published, and taught in the areas of object-oriented systems development, e-commerce, Web systems, project management, and information systems education. Bringing a wealth of real-world business experience and technical expertise to this book, Dr. Jackson is currently self-employed as a principal in several new e-commerce ventures, where he practices firsthand the analysis, design, and business principles presented in the Seventh Edition. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Brigham Young University.
Dr. Stephen Burd is an Associate Professor at the University of New Mexico, where he has been teaching courses in management information systems, networks, databases, and hardware/software since 1984. The author of more than seven top-selling textbooks for Course Technology and Cengage Learning, Dr. Burd brings significant strengths and industry knowledge to this text. He received his B.B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of Baltimore and his Ph.D. from Purdue University.

Don't waste your money

I taught a Systems Analysis course (designed by someone else) using this book. I cannot imagine what the course designer was thinking when they chose this book. I have worked nearly 30 years as a systems analyst and project manager, and this is the worst systems analysis book I have seen during that time.
Firstly, the text in the book is very "busy" which makes it unpleasant to read.
Secondly, the book is very poorly organized and this makes it very hard to gain more than superficial knowledge about anything.
I found it impossible to put together coherent lectures using this book and had to use other resources instead.
If I teach Systems Analysis again, I will insist on using a different book.
I feel very sorry for the poor students who had to waste their money buying this book.

Poorly written text

This is one of the worst textbooks I have ever read. Not only is there pages of garbage just for fill, the chapters have you jumping all over the place to future chapters, appendices, etc making it difficult to follow along. Never does the book get down to the core of the material you need to learn. Instead it rambles on and on about every little thing imaginable to fill out the book to a lengthy title to increase price for the book. It is also very outdated and should no longer be used as a textbook for actual courses today. I would not recommend anyone to use this book.

I hate this book!

I dread having this class every week, I hate this book because it is beyond the most boring thing I've ever read and it is incredibly difficult to understand I want to cry it's so frustrating, I hate the class in general too
