A rugged individualist yet big softie, the author worked at IBM for eight years in a variety of programmer, analyst and management postions. For the past nine years he has taught computer science at FCCJ (Florida Community College at Jacksonville), where he was instrumental in the development and continues to teach the AS/400 classes. Besides writing several AS/400 books, the author also conducts nation-wide corporate training and consulting.

This book acknowledges that clinical dermatology is a visual speciality. The route to diagnostic understanding is a combination of access to photographic material combined with a simple scheme for recognising primary skin lesions. Many diagrams and colour plates have been used to clarify educational points (100 line drawings) and clinical descriptions (200 colour plates). The book contains chapters which cover all the common skin diseases in the context of their underlying pathological processes and the way in which disturbances of the function of the sking produce recognisable physical signs. These are punctuated by short, sometimes witty, learning points. It also includes chapters which set skin disease in perspective (including skin and psyche), describe the structure and function of the skin an review immunology of the skin. At the end of the book there is an important chapter on drug interactions and a comprehensive section of dermatological therapy followed by a formulary. The formulary includes preparations used in both the UK and USA. Drugs are referred to by both approved and trade names.

Roger Lancelyn Green (1918-1987) became interested in myths and legends at an early age. Roger Lancelyn Green was a true expert of classic literature and ancient mythology. Green was also good friends with C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Green's book TALES OF THE GREEK HEROES is nothing short of exciting and fun to read. It's simple enough that a child can understand it and complex enough that an adult reader will not be bored by it. In it are such exciting stories as the adventures of Perseus the Gorgon-slayer (also depicted in the 1981 film CLASH OF THE TITANS) and all the labors of Hercules (or Heracles). The book concludes with the fall of Troy, which gives way to Green's two follow-up books THE TALE OF TROY and THE LUCK OF TROY.

I also highly recommend Roger Lancelyn Green's KING ARTHUR AND HIS KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE.

Groger Lancelyn Green retells the stories of the ancient Greek Heroes in a way that lends detail and continuity to those stories we have all heard. I had several "oh...that is how it hooks together" moments while reading.

The actual reading level is probably appropriate for a 5th-6th grader, but the style and story-telling will grasp the attention of an older reader. This book would also be a fabulous "read-aloud" for a younger audience with interest in the Greek Heroes.

Roger Green is obviously passionate about this subject and his passion shines through and grabs the reader. This is one the better books I have ever read about the ancient Greek heroes.

Can't get enough of the Greeks

My 10 year old boy can't get enough of Greek mythology. He's read all the Percy Jackson books and has organized a Greek God game at recess. This is just up his alley! He read it over a weekend (when he's not even required to read for school). Loved it! Now the 8 year old is reading it too.

Bernie McCarthy and her husband restored Dún na Séad castle in Baltimore, County Cork, Ireland, and have lived in the building since 2005. Having subsequently received an MPhil degree on the research of the history of the castle from University College Cork in 2008, she developed a keen interest in the piratical aspect of Baltimore.
